The Way We Were, Dendermonde, 1969-1974
When emptying the house of her deceased parents, the artist by fell on a series of 5 boxes, with in each box the stumps of the colored pencils from her childhood, carefully arranged by color. In some pencil stumps the traces of her teeth were still visible, on other yellowed notes in her mother's handwriting with the children's first names were sticked.
In the installation, these coloring pencils represent the things she drew with them obstinately in her childhood.
